SPOT Scene of the Week

Each week we hope to provide a snapshot of a location of interest in the Burdekin Dry Tropics Region. This week is a snapshot of the Highway Reward Mine (146°12'15"E 20°22'00"S) approximately 35km South of Charters Towers. The Highway/Reward are abandoned twin inter-connected open cut mines on the Gregory Development Road. The original Gregory Development Road was re-routed to make way for the Highway Open Cut. The mine is now closed and is subject to mine environmental rehabilitation.
